General Information About Istanbul Nisantasi University
Istanbul Nişantaşı University is a foundation higher education institution established by the Nişantaşı Education Foundation as “Nişantaşı Vocational School.” It joined the higher education system with the establishment decision numbered 24480 dated 09.09.2009, published in the Official Gazette dated 17.09.2009 and numbered 27352, and started associate degree education and training on 10.10.2010.
With the Establishment Law published in the Additional Article 146 in the Official Gazette dated 31.05.2012 and numbered 28309, Istanbul Nişantaşı University gained legal personality through the Faculties of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, Engineering and Architecture, Art and Design, the Institute of Science, and the Institute of Social Sciences. The Nişantaşı Vocational School was also transferred to Istanbul Nişantaşı University.
In the 2010-2011 academic year, when our university started offering associate degree education as Nişantaşı Vocational School, education was provided in 14 programs; this increased to 19 in 2011-2012, 28 in 2012-2013, 58 in 2013-2014, 78 in 2014-2015, 82 in 2015-2016, 97 in 2016-2017 and 2017-2018, and 84 in 2018-2019.
Starting from the 2013-2014 academic year, our university began to offer undergraduate education alongside associate degree programs. During this period, undergraduate education was given in a total of 23 departments: 13 in the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, 5 in the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, and 5 in the Faculty of Art and Design. The language of instruction for all departments was Turkish in the relevant academic year.
In the 2014-2015 academic year, undergraduate education was provided in a total of 30 departments: 19 in the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, 5 in the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, and 6 in the Faculty of Art and Design. Along with the Psychology department taught in Turkish, the Psychology department in English was also introduced.
In the 2015-2016 academic year, undergraduate education continued in 30 departments: 19 in the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, 5 in the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, and 6 in the Faculty of Art and Design. The departments taught in Turkish remained the same, and the number of departments taught in English increased to 4 (Psychology, New Media, International Relations, Architecture).
In the 2016-2017 academic year, undergraduate education was provided in a total of 44 departments: 25 in the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, 10 in the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, and 9 in the Faculty of Art and Design. The departments taught in Turkish remained the same, and the number of departments taught in English increased to 8 (Psychology, New Media, International Relations, Architecture, Aviation Management, Social Work, Interior Architecture, Civil Engineering).
In the 2017-2018 academic year, undergraduate education was offered in 44 departments with the same distribution as the previous year. The total number of departments taught in English remained 8.
Similarly, in the 2018-2019 academic year, 44 undergraduate programs were offered, with 8 departments taught in English.
In the 2019-2020 academic year, new programs were opened: 3 in the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, 2 in the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, 2 in the Faculty of Health Sciences, 1 in the School of Physical Education and Sports, and 1 in the Vocational School. The number of English-taught departments rose to 12, including Software Engineering (English), English Language and Literature, Translation and Interpretation, and Business Administration (English).
In the 2020-2021 academic year, new programs were opened: 1 in the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, 2 in the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, 2 in the Faculty of Health Sciences, 2 in the Faculty of Art and Design, 2 in the Conservatory, 3 in the School of Civil Aviation, and 1 in the Vocational School. The total number of English-taught departments increased to 14, including Pilotage (English) and Management Information Systems (English).
In the 2021-2022 academic year, new programs were opened in the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences (1), Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (1), Faculty of Health Sciences (2), Faculty of Art and Design (2), Conservatory (2), School of Civil Aviation (3), and Faculty of Dentistry (1). The total number of departments taught in English reached 16, including Electrical and Electronics Engineering (English) and Dentistry (English).
In the 2023-2024 academic year, student admissions were made to 6 programs in the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences and 5 programs in the Vocational School.
Apart from the departments where the language of instruction is English, the curricula of the departments taught in Turkish also heavily incorporate English language courses (speaking, writing, and professional English). The main purpose of this arrangement is to increase our students’ international competitiveness and to prevent them from having to make separate efforts to learn a language.

2021: Finance and Banking (Thesis and Non-Thesis)
2022: Nutrition and Dietetics (Thesis and Non-Thesis)
2023: Political Science and International Relations (Thesis and Non-Thesis) and Movement Science and Training Science Doctorate programs were launched.
