General Information About Istanbul Aydin University

Istanbul Aydın University is a foundation university established in Istanbul by the Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation. According to statistics from the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), it was the most preferred foundation university by prospective students between 2007 and 2016, and in the 2015–2016 academic year, it was the foundation university with the highest number of international students.

The Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation, established in 1995, applied to the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) to establish a vocational school to address the shortage of qualified personnel in Turkey and to provide a solution to employment issues. As a result, with the General Assembly decision number 106 dated September 26, 2003, a vocational school was established for the first time in Turkey directly under the Council of Higher Education. This vocational school was named Anadolu BİL Vocational School.

While the school began accepting students in the 2004–2005 academic year and continued its activities, the foundation also pursued its goal of establishing a foundation university. These efforts bore fruit, and Istanbul Aydın University was established with the law number 5656, Additional Article 73, published in the Official Gazette dated May 18, 2007, and issue number 26526. Anadolu BİL Vocational School was incorporated into this university.
